The BLDC awarded a supplemental $25,000 loan to our existing client, AXL Cycle Studio, a 35-bike cycling studio in East Boston. Inspired by the physical and emotional benefits of cycling, Toby Boice, founder and operator, opened the business in 2021 and transitioned the studio to a larger space to increase client capacity and amenities, including installing infrared sauna rooms. AXL Cycle currently employs 28 individuals on a part-time and full-time basis of which 27 are women, 21 are Boston residents and 10 are individuals of color. AXL Cycle Studio is located at 125 Sumner Street, East Boston, MA 02128, and instructor-led cycling classes can be reserved online.
